The students of the Master in HPC have to accredit a B1 (or equivalent) english level before the conclusion of the master. There are several certifications, exams and experience that can be used to validate this english level.

Professional internship

Every student of the Master in HPC has to do a professional internship. This internship is a requirement to complete the master's program.

There are several ways to complete the professional internship requirement:

* The master will offer to students an official internship program with the participation of companies from Santiago and A Coruña. The procedure to be followed is.

# The master publishes the official internship program (check the dates below).
# Students apply for one or several internships that are of their interest.
# The companies can interview the candidates to make the final selection and the training plan is formalized.
# The internship takes place. During the internship, every 15 days the student sends to one of the coordinators of the master an activity report, following [https://udcgal-my.sharepoint.com/:w:/g/personal/diego_andrade_udc_es/EWfCGaFYBHpDjlrE4rim2w0Bl4WaTvFb2dgUvjjS2PYJWA?e=5FYjKh this template]

* Another option is to validate previous professional experience in the HPC field (400 hours extended during at least 6 months). This procedure has to be followed when you enroll in the master. If you did not do it, please contact one of the coordinators of the master.

* The student can also propose to make a professional internship in a specific company. The topic of professional internship has to be related to the HPC field. Before the internship starts, this company has to sign with the university in which the student is enrolled (whether UDC or USC) a special agreement. To explore this possibility, please contact directly one of the coordinators of the master.

Every student of the Master in HPC has to do a master thesis as a part of the master program. This master thesis will be defended at the end of the master and its presentation and defense are a requirement to obtain the master's degree.

=== What to do before the master thesis ===

As a previous step to the realization of the master thesis, the student has to select a topic and one or several directors/tutors. This can done following different paths:

# In January, there will be a special process in which a number of master topics will be offered to the students by the teachers of the master. The students will select those that are of their interests, and after that, there will be an official assignment of topics (+tutors/directors) to students.
# If a student has a special interest in a topic, she can contact directly to a tutor/director with her proposal. In that case, the student and the director/tutor has to present a preliminary project describing the work to be done by the student. This document has to follow the following template and it has to be sent by email to one of the master coordinators (Diego Andrade/José Carlos Cabaleiro) before the deadlines specified below.

COVID policies

The COVID-19 pandemic is having an important impact in higher education. In that context, the Master in HPC is going to take several measurements to adapt to this situation. The master is run in two different locations belonging to two different institutions, so, the teachers and the students of each location have to adapt to the recommendations of their instituions. The general recommendations of the master for the students are:

* Students that are following the master in the distance-teaching modality don't have to perform any adaptation. Classes and evaluations are already taken fully online.
* Students that are following the master in-site will follow different policies depending on its institution:
** Those enrolled at University of A Coruña (UDC) will follow the master classes as distance-teaching students, unless they are explictly and occasionally required by the teacher to attend some type of activity.
** Those enrolled at University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) will follow the master classes in the classroom, if the class is taught by a teacher from USC. '''Each student will have an specific seat assigned in the classroom, this seat will be communicated before the start of the course'''.
If the class is tauch by a teacher from UDC they can follow the class online.

On the other hand, the recommendations for the teachers are:
* At UDC, teachers will give the lessons online from a private location (office, home,...) . If they need special equipment, they can use the classroom to teach the class as it has a special setup suitable for online teaching. It is not recommended, but they can occasionally ask in-site students of their location to attend to the class if they believe it is neccessary. Online evaluation is recommended, but they can program in-site evaluation activities for in-site students.
